Dear Friends,
It has been nearly 25 years since I began this journey, this tribute, this mission. In August 2012, the Society will celebrate its 25th anniversary. What started as a chance meeting and a gesture of goodwill, became for me and many others the reason for our appreciation and dedication. Please consider becoming a member and attending our network of James Baldwin related events throughout the year. If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact me directly.

The National James Baldwin Literary Society, Inc. was founded in 1987 by writer and photo-journalist Kevin Brown. Since that time, it has grown into an association of scholars, teachers, creative and peforming artists, students and others who have a serious interest in the life and writings of James Baldwin. Specifically, these kindred spirits share a genuine concern for meaningful research pertaining to Baldwin and his works and are committed to increasing the awareness and perpetuating the appreciation of James Baldwin as a major American writer of the twentieth century.
